Next March, I’ll visit Edinburgh (for the first time!) to keynote the
Scottish Ruby Conference,
along with the excellent Jim Weirich. Interestingly, this is the former
Scotland On Rails; they’ve decided to broaden their spectrum.
My girlfriend and I visited Scotland in July. Edinburgh is a fantastic, vibrant city! The ghost tours are a bit hokey but it's still fun to hear the history of the old town.
The most amazing thing about Scotland is how at home we BC folk feel. It's a beautiful country with friendly people and almost nothing to dislike.

Try Kilimanjaro, near the University, for good espresso, and Cloisters, at the West end of the Meadows, for a fine array of real ales on tap.
