I’m on vacation in Maui next week (Feb. 7-13). In the unlikely event that any other sunburnt geeks will be on the island, get in touch and let’s do a social under the palms. Oh, the torches? Just an excuse to recommend a truly superb recording.

Very Very Greasy, by David Lindley and El Rayo X

Tiki Torches at Twilight is a song on Very Very Greasy by David Lindley and El Rayo X. Other reviewers have gushed about “insectoid reggae rhythms” and “infectious party sound-tracks”, but in between all that there’s some very superior music, and (on Do Ya’ Wanna Dance) one of the top ten guitar breaks of all time. Produced by Linda Ronstadt, too.
